Social media has been a growing subject interest over the past four IFA annual meetings.  I have been in all the sessions.... learning.... contributing to the conversation. Congress Considers Bill To Help Veterans Own Franchises

A new legislative effort backed by the International Franchise Association could make Franchises more affordable for veterans. Veterans, like many people looking for stability and profitability in new business ventures, often consider franchising. News for veterans is often daunting, with high unemployment rates, but Congress is considering a bill to help veterans make the investment to start a franchise. The bill, which is now sponsored by more than 30 members of Congress, was introduced by Representatives Aaron Schock of Illinois and Leonard Boswell of Iowa. It calls for a tax incentive to franchisers who allow qualified veterans to purchase franchises at lower fees. "Given the current economic climate," International Franchise Association vice president of government relations David French said in a statement, "many franchised businesses are finding it harder to access the capital they need to open new stores and recruit new investors. In order to encourage economic growth and make it easier for veterans to own their business, the IFA supports enactment of this tax credit for those franchise systems that choose to offer qualified veterans a discounted franchise fee." Columnist Joe Lindenmayer at Entrepreneur magazine has suggested that veterans are the perfect candidates for franchising, having extensive experience of both quick thinking and teamwork.

The International Franchise Association (IFA) will celebrate 50 years of service to the industry at their 2010 conference February 5 -8 San Antonio, TX

At the IFA conference franchisors and individuals associated to the industry take time to learn best practices, engage with their peers and chart the future.

This year for the first time the IFA will provide a new technology tool for the members to gather contact and connections as well as to collect seminar and program materials with the touch of a button and a simple code.  That tool is called BeLinker and is changing the Conference and Tradeshow Industry.  I appreciate an association that strives to help thier members take away more useful information from each and every event.  BeLinker will be a tool that will support that advancement!

As a member of the IFA I value the association and the connections that I establish at these events.  Currently, I am participating in the Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) program and enjoy the continued educational opportunities provided to franchisors.  It is my personal mission to advance my knowledge in franchising so that I can assure the Creative Tutors franchisees that Creative Tutors stives to reach the highest levels of industry knowledge!
